Yoga teacher training courses in Rishikesh can be categorised as hectic but lovely experiences. People travel from afar to this holy place to change their lives and their perspectives. Some people are in pursuit of a lifestyle which is minimal but they do not have direction, these are the people who majorly end up opting for Yoga Teacher training courses because there are gateways to minimalism. A yogic lifestyle is a certified minimalistic lifestyle. Not everybody is capable to walk on it but many would like to try their hand at it.

A day in the life of a student at Rishikesh starts before the sun rises. Early morning pranayama classes are followed by asana practice of either Hatha Yoga or Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga or Vinyasa flow, any of which are scheduled in the morning. Any asana class is particularly 90-minutes long and a Pranayama class is 60-minutes long. These two sessions are followed by a break for breakfast whereas at yoga schools there is only sattvic food available to eat. This food can be categorised as simple but nutritious, keeping in mind the physical activity that a student endures during this period.

Yoga Anatomy and Yoga Philosophy

The break is followed by two sessions of Yoga Anatomy and Yoga Philosophy where the young yogi gets a chance of understanding the history of Yoga and how he/she can understand their body to be able to practice asanas with better alignment and gain the true benefits of the asanas. Theory sessions are given an ample amount of importance because yoga is not all about physical practice. From what we understand according to the scriptures, yoga is 80% of mental body practice and 20% of physical body practice. This concept may have become alluded with modern times as people perceive yoga to be a practice to become flexible.

These theory classes are halted by lunch and some breaks for the students to explore the space on their own or to simply rest. The next session is again an asana practice of 90-minutes which is intense in plenty for the students to understand how to release toxins from their body through these movements. The final session for the day is meditation which becomes the most relaxing experience after the full day of physical and mental practice. The day ends in a high of a meditative state.

This schedule is followed for 6-days a week for 25-days of the course. Sundays are the only day of rest for a young yogi. The newbies who are in pursuit of a minimalistic life start their journey at the footings of the Himalayas, surrounded by Mother Ganga. This is an ideal beginning on the path of a yogic journey. A healthy schedule like this motivates young yogis to walk on this path further. The trick is to keep on following this routine once they are away from this set-up because that is when the real challenge begins.
